The Berndt Group worked with JMT to develop a best of breed web site as the large national multi disciplined architectural and engineering firm was entering its 40th year. JMT is a multi disciplined architectural and engineering employee owned company that offers a full array of consulting and technology services for infrastructure projects throughout the United States with corporate headquarters in Sparks, MD. The project was not only focused on developing a more effective web strategy, it also involved the adoption of a new web CMS platform, the Open Source Umbraco WCM framework. Working closely with the organization's Information Technology and Marketing divisions, and JMT's leadership, The Berndt Group worked through a structured design process to develop a new web strategy, architecture, and look-and-feel for the site. A major focus was the creation of a highly usable and flexible portfolio section of the site. Given that the firm is highly active in a wide variety of disciplines, geographies, and types of projects, it was crucial that the new site allow for detailed cross-indexing of portfolio entries, allowing the site to present in context the full richness of JMT's work. In order to do this, the system needed to support quick tagging of projects, as well as real-time presentation of various filtered views of the portfolio. Today, JMT has a highly effective site that drives more traffic and is more tuned to providing users with what they want and to showing off the best of JMT's projects. The new site was designed to be a much more effective recruiting vehicle as well as more effective vehicle to engage potential prospects on more levels. As an expanding, highly professional organization, JMT now has a model professional services web site that enables a strong web strategy, and allows non-technical staff to manage the site content and continue to refine the strategy as time passes and market opportunities evolve. |
